Arthur Foster
Description
Arthur Foster recounts the history of Slick, Oklahoma, established in 1920 due to an oil boom named after Tom Slick. By the mid-1920s, Slick's population reached 12,000-13,000. The town built a brick high school and a water system with a 40,000-50,000 gallon tank. However, by the early 1930s, the oil field was depleted, leading to a population decline. Slick's infrastructure, including a railroad and schools, was maintained, but the town faced financial struggles, defaulting on $100,000 in bonds.
